Ramshackle Army

Ramshackle Army

THE RAMSHACKLE ARMY as they shall hence forth be known have been on the march, providing Celt infused Punk Rock sustenance to thirsty audiences across the Australia since first hitting the stage mid-2010. Armed with more 4 stringed instruments than 6, the RSA have come to provide an outlet for all those who wish nothing more than to sing loud with mates. Music designed to bring listeners out of the cold, shout “whoa whoa!” to the heavens and yell at the guy next to them that “it’s your round!”

The Ramshackle crew have been playing extensively through the Australian pub and live music scene building a fearsome reputation in a short time through tireless promotion, a professional attitude, an energetic live show and a dedication to creating strong brand recognition.

The raw and energetic sound that is The Ramshackle Army’s “Celt Mosh”, as t has been labelled, is a combination of banjo, mandolin, bouzouki and fiddle which drive layers of melody over a fast and furious punk rock and roll backline that leads to an experience of pure musical mayhem.

Taking great pleasure in sharing the stage with many of the country’s finest proponents of punk, rock, folk punk, ska and rockabilly, the RSA are delighted to play to a wide and diverse audience without the restriction of “pigeonholing” or scene classifications.

The Ramshackle Army added to their arsenal with their debut Independent EP LIFE LESSONS AND DRUNKEN SESSIONS which invaded the market in May 2011.  Recorded at 3 Phase in Brunswick, VIC by Sam Johnson (Mindsnare, Toe to Toe, A Death in The Family, House Vs Hurricane) and mastered at Blasting Room, Fort Collins, Colorado by Jason Livermore (Rise Against, A Wilhelm Scream), Life Lessons and Drunken Sessions is the first attempt at transferring the live energy of an RSA show to recorded format and will surely have the audience in the mood for a drunken singalong.

The CD received very positive reviews both locally and internationally leading to Japanese distribution being picked up by Celtic punk label Uncle Owen.  The CD has been picked up as part of a number of international podcasts and radio shows including PaddyRock.com (Chicago), Shite N Onions (Boston) and Irish Power Hour (Syracuse, New York).

The future for The Ramshackle Army includes a push further into the Australian, growing a fan base through relentless playing and promotion. The band are also using the dedicated online Celt punk community to expand and continue to grow the brand internationally.  With so much on the horizon the noises made by the RSA are only growing louder.
