Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance

Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance
The Culkin School was founded in 1997 and currently enrolls more than 400 students. My goal for the school is to preserve the unique tradition of Irish music and dance and pass it on to new generations of dancers. Competition and performance are not the focus of the school, but we will prepare our students so that they will be able to compete and perform with success and pride. A secondary goal of the school is to share Irish music and dance with the Washington, D.C. area community by participating in a variety of local events and performances.

Broady

Broady

Meet Brandon Broady, who will be hosting the Greyhound-Peter Pan Irish Village stage.  Broady will emcee the Shamrock Pub Games, a ridiculous spectacle in which participants test their shame-level like never before (there is $2,000 in cold hard cash on the line).  The best word to describe Broady is VERSATILE.  Since he can remember, he has always been drawn to the world of entertainment (sports, music, movies, video games, etc).  Growing up, and attending school in Silver Spring, MD, all the way through high school, Broady has always loved being the center of attention and humoring others. Broady has been working with Donnell Rawlings (“Chappelle’s Show”) on many projects, and opened for him as a feature at the DC Improvisation Club. He has also opened for Cedric The Entertainer in Baltimore, MD

Unicycle Lady

The performing artist, who prefers to go by Unicycle Lady, has been riding the unicycle for more than 37 years and used only her unicycle as her sole mode of transportation until the age of 35.  When she was 16, she had a dream of dancing on a unicycle but it wasn’t until 10 years later when she read The Complete Book of Unicycling by Jack Wiley that she was determined to work towards that dream. She spent countless of hours learning about the different skills that could be performed on a unicycle. By listening to music, envisioning movements to those like a figure, then try to do perform the skills to the  rhythm of music the unicyclist was truly creating an art form.

After attending her first unicycle convention in 1992, there she gained recognition for her unique style and grace getting on the cover of  the magazine, One Wheel. Finally, realizing that dreams do come true, the “Unicycle Lady” was born.
