Now in their 14th year the Dropkick Murphys have risen from their basic Irish-punk roots to become a rocking & rolling, raging, green-clover machine. Dropkick Murphys are now one of the best-known rock bands in the world, thanks in part to their ability to tap into the working-class and sports fan culture that permeates Boston and the New England area but even more so due to their reputation for phenomenal live shows.

With one of the most recognizable voices of our time, combined with blue eyed soul vocals, freewheeling melodies and earthy charm; singer, songwriter, and musician Gavin DeGraw, has enjoyed success since breaking through in 2003 with his debut album, Chariot, which sold over a million copies, earned platinum certification, and yielded three hit singles: “I Don’t Want To Be,” “Follow Through,” and the title-track, “Chariot.” He followed that up with his self-titled second album, which debuted at No. 1 on the digital sales chart and at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart in 2008 (earning Gavin his first Top 10 album and spawning the hit singles “In Love With A Girl” and the gold-certified “We Belong Together.”

Carbon Leaf has rocked ShamrockFest for several years and is a fan favorite.   Their roots run Celtic and some even say folky.  Make no mistake; this is a rock band and they will rock.

Rousing and raucous, Scythian (sith-ee-yin) plays kicked-up Celtic and world music with hints of Gypsy and Klezmer, all infused with a touch of punk-rock sensibility.

THE RAMSHACKLE ARMY as they shall hence forth be known have been on the march, providing Celt infused Punk Rock sustenance to thirsty audiences across the Australia since first hitting the stage mid-2010. Armed with more 4 stringed instruments than 6, the RSA have come to provide an outlet for all those who wish nothing more than to sing loud with mates. Music designed to bring listeners out of the cold, shout “whoa whoa!” to the heavens and yell at the guy next to them that “it’s your round!”

 

After 5 years touring in the band Rude Buddha on the cult hit “Miss California”,  which included back to back DC 101 Chili Cook-offs in ’05  and ’06,  and deals in the States and Japan, front man Aaron Crawford needed some “musical soul searching”.  In his quest for truth, he formed Aaron Crawford & The Badcards and after a short residency at the Viper Room in Los Angeles Ca, he hit the studio and recorded “The Wager”,  due to be released spring 2012.

Since 2007, Along Those Lines has grown from a group of miscreants with guitars, to a well-rounded lineup of hard working, full time musicians. These dedicated journeymen have pushed through thick and thin to give their audiences the best musical product available.  Hailing from the outskirts of Washington DC, this four piece band has gone.....

In 2009, Charm City Saints unleashed one of the most original albums in it's genre. "Hooligans and Saints" is filled with melodic catchy hooks while still maintaining that raw gritty energy that is associated with Punk Rock.

Glasgow Kiss features vocals, acoustic guitar, fiddle, Scottish bagpipes, bodhran and other Celtic percussion, and tin whistle.  They offer a wide range of Celtic tunes, both traditional and more modern as well, from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Canada, and America. You will also hear Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, The Proclaimers and The Clash with a butt kicking Celtic twist.

Two bass players and a drummer, son. This is how Kid is Qual rolls. And in their sonic quest to create and perform a new bass driven sound, Jonathan Sullivan (lead bass), Mike Bryant (rhythm bass) and Chris McClish (drums) have been writing, recording, and grinding out jams, sharing the stage with the likes of Devo, Crystal Castles, Electric Six, Jack's Mannequin, the Audition, Valencia, the Gay Blades, Every Avenue, and Schoolly D, among others.

Kilmaine Saints are equal parts Irish Swagger, Scottish Pride and whiskey. This explosive, high-energy Celtic rock band from Central PA will lift your hearts, your spirits, and your pint when you're not looking.

This band of misfits have been bringing their brand of floor-stomping Celtic punk rock to clubs all over California and beyond for the past 4 years. While their sound is rooted in traditional Irish folk, the 7 members of The Mighty Regis inject a variety of influences into their music. Most often likened to The Pogues, who lead singer Franky refers to as "The Old Guard", TMR also draws inspiration from such bands as The Clash, NOFX, Johnny Cash, The Clash, Bad Religion, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Misfits and The Police. Its members having made ends meet in Hollywood via all manner of artistic endeavors, the entertainment value of their live show pairs perfectly with their tight musicianship. They have a rare ability to dissolve any demographic or musical genre lines and make instant fans of any crowd no matter the venue.

Of Good Nature is a talented and fast upcoming trio, reigning from Charlotte, NC. Their original music, due to its variety, is difficult to pin into one genre. The sound is generally described as Rock/Reggae/Funk, with bursts of instrumental jam sessions that constantly demand their audiences’ attention.

 

Hailing from the Washington, D.C. area, Redline Addiction is an alternative rock ensemble whose musical influences range from early 90s grunge to modern hard rock to folk. Redline Addiction signed to upstart label Counterpoint Records LLC in 2007.  In March 2008, Redline Addiction released its first full-length album, Goodbye Miss Dolly, to great reviews. This record highlighted each individual member’s unique balance of talent and style, and set the tone for the band’s up-tempo and energetic live show.

Formed in 2006, The Rovers have taken the Celtic music scene by storm thanks to an eclectic mix of traditional roots and blazing instrumentals with an amped up rock twist. Their musicianship and show is nothing short of high octane.

On a Thursday night I see Gamble playing a solo show in Annapolis, MD.  You take one look at him - short hair combed to one side (just long enough to give off a sense of attitude), tight black leather jacket and leather boots, acoustic guitar slung across his shoulders – and know this guy believes in what music can do to the mind and the soul.

Gaelic Mishap from Baltimore, MD is definitely “not your mother’s Irish band.”  That almost tells you what you need to know about this talented, edgy and dynamic Irish band.  Playing a mixture of modern Celtic rock and traditional Irish with a rock style, they get great reviews at every festival and pub that they play.
